Boscadon Abbey (near Embrun, in the Alps)
This Chalais-style abbey is moving in its simplicity and purity of form. It has been extensively restored. You can visit the cloister for a small fee (3,50 Euros in 2006) where there is a fine collection of tools and several interesting displays. The bookstore has many wonderful treasures on religious architecture. The modern "crucifix" is beyond description. I strongly suggest that you take time to sit quietly contemplating its messages. This is a functioning Abbey. The times of services is posted prominently. You are most welcome to join the community for prayer. Web information seems limited, but here is a website you can look at: |
